The senator said she is in a tough race with challenger Kay Hagan, one made tougher by a $10-million campaign of "mud-slinging ads" against her. The advertising campaign, she said, is tied to a larger effort by N.Y. Sen. Charles Schumer to get a controlling 60-Democrat majority in the Senate. "It will be a nightmare," she said. "And if that happens, it is real trouble."
